One thing left to do... Win
We're here! The finale of season of 41. Ricard seems to have the game on lock if he can get to final tribal, but no one's going to let him get there - After a ..word scramble twist? It's off to the races. Erika finds an advantage for the upcoming reward and immunity challenge (+5), and snowballs this lead into an important win. She makes a smart choice in choosing Heather to come with her for reward, to try and smooth things over from Deshawns 'truth bomb' at the last tribal.
Ricard throws everything he can at the wall, but unfortunately nothing sticks, and he places fifth. A very strong tactical player that I hope we'll see again!
Xander pulls off the final immunity win, securing his spot at final tribal. He takes a minute to hear out each player's case, and quickly tells Erika she's safe - A decision he regrets, clearly in the short term, after seeing her struggle to make fire, but I imagine also in the long term. It does make some sense to try to avoid having a firemaking win added to her resume, but a resume of an eliminated player isn't something you need to worry about. Erika's under the radar strategy pays off huge, as Xander misreads the jury's perception of her, and confirms that she is joining him at final tribal.
Deshawn and Heather go to firemaking, and it's a rollercoaster - After some back and forth, and a very near win for Heather, Deshawn's fire is more concentrated in one spot and wins by seconds.
Final tribal felt pretty lively, with jurors jumping in to build off of other questions, and player answers. Each player tried to pitch their game best they could, and even though Ricard was worried the rest of the jury may not have seen the extent of Erika's game, they ultimately did, crowning her as the sole survivor! (+20) (The first Canadian sole survivor, hell yeah). Deshawn picks up one juror vote from Danny to take second place (+14), and Xander ends up in third (+10).
Note: The episode title does not seem to have been said verbatim, so no points allocated there. Also, eliminated players cannot score points, so no points for voting confessionals from jury members.
Thanks for playing everyone, and I hope you all had a good time with the season, and the league. Of course feel free to comment below or tweet at me at @Charrberg, see you back in Fiji this spring!
